Meditation of the Month: Dynamic

Osho Dynamic Meditation lasts for one hour and has five stages. The key is to be total throughout – and as such, is good training for living life passionately. It is designed to take you beyond your limits into new levels of energy so it is important to do all five steps in sequence. If you do this meditation over a period of time, such as every day for 21 days or longer, it can stimulate a complete spiritual rebirth as well as open up new levels of physical rejuvenation.

To practise the meditation:

The best time to practise it is early in the morning before showering, eating or drinking, except for a little water. Try to keep your eyes closed throughout – you may even want to use a blindfold. Blow your nose before starting as the first stage involves chaotic breathing through the nose which may release a lot of mucus. Wear loose but supportive clothes. Women especially will want to wear something to support the breasts when jumping.

Step 1 – Breathe through your nose with a rhythm that is deep, fast and chaotic. Focus on this and the in breath will take care of itself. Let every cell in your body become alive. Use the movement of your entire body to help activate the breathing. 10 minutes.

Step 2 – Go into total catharsis. Go mad: scream, cry, laugh, dance, shake, shout, do gibberish. Let go of all your repressed emotions inside. 10 minutes.

Step 3 – Jump with your arms raised, saying “HOO!” as you land. Let the sound hammer on your sex centre as you land on your heels. This shock wave allows your life force to start moving up the spine. 10 minutes.

Step 4 – STOP, exactly where you are. Remain absolutely still and silent, giving the opportunity for all the awakened energy to move to the centre of your being. 15 minutes.

Step 5 – Celebrate! Allow yourself to dance, open up and express your gratefulness to the new day, not with words but with gestures. 15 minutes.

To practise the meditation you will need to buy the CD or join a group. Many Osho centres and sannyas groups around the UK and the world run Dynamic regularly. Check out what’s happening in your local area.
