Sarita in the Hot Seat

Andrew Vyse of Tantralink asks Sarita about her arrival in India aged 17 and her initial influences; about sutras and the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, Tantric Rituals and what is it that she does!

Tantric Initiation in India

Sarita left the US at age 16, hitchhiked through Europe and overland to India. On arrival in India she did a 10 day Vipassana retreat with Goenka at Bodhdgaya followed by a month long Vipassana retreat in Mumbai. Just before this she met a couple in a hotel who invited her to a talk that evening. She went to an apartment with 30 people in orange robes sitting in silence waiting. Osho floated into living room and gave a talk on the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, a 5000 year old scripture with Shiva giving answers to Parvati about life and spirituality – his 112 answers comprise the 112 sutras/meditations of this sacred teaching.

The sutra which Osho was speaking on when Sarita first met him was ‘While engaged in sexual union, stay attentive on the fire in the beginning and so continuing avoid the embers at the end.’

Next morning at 6am, Sarita did her first Dynamic meditation on Chowpatty Beach and then received Shaktipat from Osho. This involved bringing the ego to consolidated awareness, pouring it onto a flower and offering it to Osho’s feet. Then pouring all suffering into Osho while looking into his eyes. Sarita was initially scared by Osho’s power but could see that it was coming from love. Then she received the benediction of his divine energy – a tantric transmission – with Osho absorbing poisons and transforming them into love.

Sarita went to Osho’s meditation camp on Mount Abu and was initiated into Neo Sannyas with Osho – the start of a 40 year journey.

Sutras & The Vigyan Bhairav Tantra

Sutras – very short spiritual teachings – a condensed scripture, a living transmission. A sutra could be a couple of lines and contains a spiritual teaching on a subject. The Vigyan Bhariav Tantra is comprised of 112 sutras – each sutra is a meditation. The Vigyan Bhairav Tantra functions through your own lived experience – practice it and it will awaken your own innate wisdom. Education means drawing out that which is already in you. If you practise the meditations of the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, you will be become wise in 108 facets of your being – it will help you to become enlightened.

Rituals in Tantra

The purpose and importance of rituals: In Tantra we work with mantra, Yantra and meditation. Rituals create a framework, a sacred space where we are calling in and downloading a particular frequency. We can resonate with unembodied energies and frequencies and start embodying them. We can make sacred symbols, living yantras using a sacred geometry shape. We might choose a deity – a statue or person who takes on the living presence of the deity and then do worship and meditative practices to bond , call in the presence and allow ourselves to awaken to that presence – this helps awaken our own hidden wisdom around that life principle. There are many ways to do this. You can do this as a couple – sanctify the bedroom and do tantric practice including love-making – this will awaken life potential in you that can be sublime, divine, amazing & ecstatic.

Tantra Master Sarita

Sarita answers the question ‘What is it that you do?’ I am love and I share love through Tantra. I am a Tantra teacher and have been on the Tantra path a long time. I learned Tantra with Osho and have been teaching since 1990. I offer my body of work called Tantra-Essence and have a team of 10 people who have trained with me and are now teachers on their own right and teach around world. I generally teach in 12 countries every year. I teach Tantra for couples in an 8 level training, I also teach individuals and women’s work and offer a teacher training. My speciality is the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra – I have an annual meditation retreat – an experiential teaching – 3 year process covering the 112 sutras. It’s all about spiritual awakening, potential for ecstasy, bliss, meditative awareness. Letting that rebirth in you and sharing with the wider world – hopefully awakening the collective to the potential for living in bliss.

See Sarita’s Calendar for details of her workshops and retreats. If you’d like to benefit from Sarita’s teachings without leaving home, her online course on the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra could be a great option.
