Oh My Brother – Poem of the Month

By Ma Ananda Sarita

I will meet you
Oh my brother
On the field of battle
Where heroes died

This time, oh brother,
Let us load our guns
With flowers instead of bullets
And shoot
A glorious riot of fragrant
Colours at each other

Where we fought and died
In raucous vengeance, oh Brother
Let us now
Plant trees as a
Prayer to future generations
To learn from past mistakes

Let us, oh brother
Be absolved of our ignorance
And open the way
For the unity of man
Embrace me, and see yourself and
All men reflected in my eyes

I will meet you there, oh brother
On that battlefield of glory
Where we can at last
Win over avarice and greed
Learning to provide
Sustenance for all living beings
